VG 25 & VG5 CHP
|
Gasification is a partial oxidation process whereby a carbon source such as biomass, is broken down, via heating, into combustible gases (CO, H2 and CH4. These gases can then be directed through a suitable engine to produce electrical and thermal energy.
The VG 25 produces 25kW of electrical energy an hour and 50kW thermal during the same period. The VG 5 produces 5kW of electrical energy an hour and 10kW thermal. Gasification process runs to 1kg of woodchip or pellets (10-15%mc) producing 1kW electricity . So a 25kW gasifier needs 25-30kg of woodchip per hour. |

These engines are built specifically for "difficult gases" which is not the case with the majority of gasification systems, which simply convert internal combustion engines to run on syngas, which is why gasification hasn't worked that well in the EC thus far.
Suitable for District Heating (10-15 homes), as well as commercial & agricultural applications. Well matched to remote and isolated locations. |
